A Week In The Life

First of all, I wanted you all to see what QuynhAnh looks like most mornings, she sure cleans up well doesn't she? She's my beautiful princess with a touch of Medusa in her.
This past weekend was an interesting one. We were involved in a ward talent show. There were all sorts of acts, skits and music. It was fun to watch. Tom's dad was in a skit where he had to act like a 2 year old, diaper and all (don't worry, he wore the diaper over his clothes), and I must say, he was very proficient at being a baby. It was very funny, he carried around a barney doll and pushed the other "children " down. Funny, funny. Tom's talent was awesome! With the help of his brother, Wayne, he did a clogging act. It was more of a battle between 2 clogging pros. They went back and forth, showing their dancing prowess and just when we thought it couldn't get any better, they tore off their sweatshirts to releave their UofU shirts and put on UofU hats and clogged together. At the end of the performance, they yelled "Go Utes!!". There was much rejoicing in the audience (although it did sound suspiciously like Boos, but we figured that it is very close to Halloween and perhaps people were practicing their ghostly sound effects). I have to say, those boys have guts, especially up here in Cedar Hills where the veins run blue. I have proof of the intensity of the rivalry up here, our UofU tire cover for the jeep was slashed up here a year ago and I feared that our tires' safety was being placed in the hands of my nutsy husband. But it was fun and makes for a great story later. I did karate and I think that I was probably beet red the entire time I was on the stage. My friend was the one who set up the talent night and practically had to break my arm to get me to do karate. So what I did was I used my sister, Tom, and Wayne to be volenteers and I did some fun defenses against them, I even disarmed Wayne, who was holding a deadly banana. Tom narrated for me and made it really funny so I wasn't quite as embarrassed (Tom is super witty and can come up with funny things to say on the fly). Then I did Stature of the Crane, which is a form that immitates the way a crane would fight. It was fun but I am sooooo glad it was over. Now if I am ever asked again I can say no because I have already done it once. I know, I know, I have a chicken heart, but there were A LOT of people out there watching! I can barely even say the opening prayer in sacrement, believe me, I about feinted when they asked me and the night before I asked my mom in law to do it for me. When the actual time came, I said "Oh Dang It!!! I have to do this!" So I went to the podium at the same time as my mom in law, which was awkward, and ended up fumbling and mumbling through a prayer that I don't remember at all! But anyway, I can barely say a prayer in sacrement let alone do karate for the whole world to see. It's ok though, I think it is good for me to do things that I am not comfortable doing. Anyway, that was our talent show experience. Have a good day!
