Getting to Know the Salmond Clan
Published by Julie under on 7:33 PM
So, I wanted to post on here with a picture but because of my computer illiteracy, I couldn't figure out how to do it so I decided, screw it!!, I am going to post anyway and whoever looks at this can imagine what the pictures would look like. With Tom being gone to Florida for 5 days now, I have learned a few things about having 3 kids full time.... nonstop.... constantly...... eternally. Here are a few things that I have learned or that have been reaffirmed to me.
1. When it is quiet upstairs and all 3 kids are upstairs it means that they are:
A. Quietly playing
B. Sleeping
C. Coloring on each other with permenant black marker
D. Naked and hiding under QuynhAnh's desk.
If you guessed C and D you are absolutely right and obviously know my kids very well.
2. When I am in the shower, peacefully shaving my legs and exfoliating my tired skin, my sweet children are:
A. Pouring each other mountains of cereal and using half a gallon of milk on the mountain which they end up not eating anyway
B. Eating raw potatoes and then spitting little chunks all over each other, the walls, the couches, the cabinets and the poor pumpkins that are helplessly sitting in the front window
C. Sticking butter knives in the pumpkins in an attempt to make them look like "pumpkin people", complete with arms and legs and wild "hair"
D. Coloring on the walls with (thankfully washable) blue markers.....then signing their names to complete the artwork, then denying that they had anything to do with it.
If you said all of the above, you are as smart as they come. My kids are full of life from the time they wake to the time they fall on their pillows at bedtime.
3. When I am reading an email from my little ghanian brother, in an attempt to get some adult interaction, my kids:
A. Read their books like they know they should
B. Quietly do art projects at the table
C. Stay inside because they didn't ask to go outside
D. Eat the apples or crackers that I have given them.
If you said none of the above you are right again, so I will give you different options
When I am reading an email from my little ghanian brother, in an attempt to get some adult interaction, my kids:
A. Hide their books in the apple drawer in the fridge
B. Have play-do wars using the play-do as projectile weapons and the cookie sheets as shields, though they were meant for quiet art projects
C. Run outside, strip down naked, turn on the water and soak each other in freezing cold ice water
D. Make a mush out of the apples, crackers and water that they want to put in the oven and bake for their granny.
You guessed it, all of the above.
4. When I decided that it was Quynh's day to choose every activity and every meal, she:
A. Wanted to eat at "Panda Bear express"
B. Insisted on playing at the park even though it is 37 degrees outside
C. Wanted icecream, even though it is 37 degrees outside
D. Slept under her bed because it was "cozy"
If you guessed A and B you are correct. We lasted at the park for approximately 6 1/2 minutes before Quyn decided that it was TOOOOO COLD! Then we went to the McDonalds playland so the kids could play but instead they whined the whole time for chicken nuggets (so we skidaddled out of there pretty quick too), then we went to panda bear express where Keenan swung from the partition bars for 13 minutes (it was cute though I did fear that he was going to fall and crack his head on the concrete, but alas, my daredevil son is appearantly deaf for he did not hear his poor mother's pleas for him to restrain himself from swinging on the death trap partition bars). Cole was the one who wanted ice cream and wanted to sleep under the bed, but poor boy, his head was too big to fit under the bed.
5. When I am sick and laying in bed in the morning, my children:
A. Wake up at 6:30 in the morning
B. Let me sleep because the know I'm not well
C. make me breakfast in bed, complete with a get well card
D. make me some "juice" to help me get better, made of 3 packages of crystal light and a cup of sugar.
Once again, it is all of the above, and I must say WOOOOO, the juice was TART! But it was very sweet of them to let me sleep in, not make any messes and even make me breakfast in bed (apple, piece of bread, crazy juice, and mountain of cereal with half a gallon of milk on it.
So I guess what I am saying is that I miss Tom a lot, can't wait for him to get home and my family misses their daddy tons too. We did ok with him gone but we sure glad that he is coming home tonight.

I don't know who's more creative, you or the kids. Maybe that's were they get it from. :) Tee hee.
